Majkl Šermer

Majkl Brant Šermer (engl. Michael Brant Shermer; Altadina, 8. septembar 1954) je američki pisac, istoričar nauke, osnivač Udruženja skeptika, i glavni i odgovorni urednik časopisa Skeptik, koji je u velikoj meri posvećen istraživanju pseudonaučnih i natprirodnih tvrdnji u cilju dokazivanja njihove nevalidnosti. Udruženje skeptika trenutno ima više od 55.000 članova. Šermer takođe učestvuje u raspravama o temama koje se odnose na pseudonauku i religije u kojima naglašava naučni skepticizam.

Šermer je producent i kodomaćin 13-satne televizijske serije Exploring the Unknown koja se prikazuje na Foks femili. Od aprila 2001 je kolumnista časopisa Scientific American u vlastitoj kolumni Skeptic. Takođe je i savetnik za nauku Američkog saveta za nauku i zdravstvo (ACSH).

Šermer tvrdi da je nekad bio fundamentalistički hrišćanin, ali je prestao verovati u postojanje Boga za vreme studija. Prihvata da ga opisuju agnostikom, neteistom, ateistom i drugim nazivima. Sebe opisuje sebe kao zastupnika humanističke filozofije, i nauke o moralu.
