Klasični liberalizam
Klasični liberalizam je politička ideologija i ogranak liberalizma koji se zalaže za građanske slobode pod vladavinom prava sa naglaskom na ekonomskoj slobodi. Blisko srodan sa ekonomskim liberalizmom, on se razvio tokom ranog 19. veka, nadograđujući se na ideje iz prethodnog veka kao odgovor na urbanizaciju i na industrijsku revoluciju u Evropi i Sjedinjenim Državama.[1][2][3] Značajne osobe čije su ideje doprinele klasičnom liberalizmu su između ostalih Džon Lok,[4] Žan Batist Sej, Tomas Robert Maltus, i Dejvid Rikardo. U klasičnom liberalizmu dolazi do primene klasičnih ekonomskih ideja koje je podržavao Adam Smit u svojoj Prvoj knjizi Bogatstva naroda i na veruvanju u prirodno pravo,[5] utilitarizam,[6] i progres.[7] Termin „klasični liberalizam” primenjen je u retrospektivi da bi razlikovao raniji liberalizam iz 19. veka od novijeg socijalnog liberalizma.[8]
