Grigorije Bogoslov
Grigorije Nazijanski (330[4]—390[4][5]), nazvan Grigorije Bogoslov, bio je carigradski arhiepiskop.[6]

Rođen u Naziansu od oca Jelina i majke hrišćanke.[7][8]:18 Pre krštenja učio se u Atini zajedno sa Vasilijem Veliki i Julijanom Odstupnikom. Često je on proricao Julijanu da će biti odstupnik od vere i gonitelj crkve, što se i zbilo. Na Grigorija je naročito mnogo uticala dobra mu majka Nona. Kada završi svoje učenje, Grigorije se krsti. Sveti Vasilije rukopoložio ga je za episkopa sasimskog, a car Teodosije Veliki uskoro ga pozove na upražnjeni presto arhiepiskopa carigradskog. Sastavio je mnogobrojna dela, od kojih su mu najslavnija ona iz Bogoslovlja, zbog čega je i nazvan Bogoslovom.
Ja sam bežao da bih shvatio Boga, ushodio na goru, stupao u oblak, udaljivši se od materije i svega materijalnog, sabravši se unutar sebe, koliko je moguće. Ali kada sam pogledao, video sam jedino Boga otpozadi.
Naročito je znamenito po dubini njegovo delo Besede o Svetoj trojici. Još je pisao protiv patrijarha Makedonija, koji je učio o Duhu svetom (kao da je Duh stvorenje Božje), i protiv Apolinarija, koji je učio, kao da Hristos nije imao čovečje duše, nego da mu je božanstvo bilo mesto duše. Pisao je takođe i protiv cara Julijana Odstupnika, svog negdašnjeg školskog druga. Kada na Saboru 381. godine, nasta rasprava oko njegovog izbora za arhiepiskopa, on se povuče sam, izjavivši: „Ne mogu nas lišiti Boga oni koji nas lišavaju prestola“. Zatim napusti Carigrad, ode u Nazijanz, i tamo prožive do smrti u povučenosti, molitvi i pisanju korisnih knjiga. Iako je celog života bio slaba zdravlja, ipak je doživeo osamdesetu godinu. Mošti su mu docnije prenete u Rim, a glava mu se nalazi u Uspenskom soboru u Moskvi. Bio je i ostao veliko i divno svetlo Crkve pravoslavne, kako po krotosti i čistoti karaktera tako i po nenadmašnoj dubini uma. Umro je 390. godine
Grigorije Nazijanzin je svetac u istočnom i u zapadnom hrišćanstvu. U katoličkoj crkvi ubraja se među crkvene doktore; u Istočnoj pravoslavnoj crkvi i Istočnim katoličkim crkvama poštovan je kao jedan od Sveta tri jerarha, pored Vasilija Velikog i Jovana Zlatoustog. On se smatra jednim od velikih otaca u istočnom i u zapadnom hrišćanstvu. Smatran je zaštitnikom dinastije Kotromanića i srednjovekovne Bosne tokom prve polovine 15. veka, dok je Sveti Georgije, Čudotvorac, bio zaštitnik najmanje od sredine 13. veka, iako ga je papstvo potvrdilo mnogo kasnije, 1461. Sveti Grigorije Veliki se takođe smatrao zaštitnikom obe države i dinastije krajem 15. veka.[9][10]
On je takođe jedan od samo trojice ljudi u životu Pravoslavne Crkve koji su zvanično označeni epitetom kao „Bogoslov“,[11] a druga dvojica su Jovan Bogoslov (jevanđelista) i Simeon Novi Bogoslov.
