Америчка глумица

Beti Marion Vajt (engl. Betty Marion White; Ouk Park, 17. januar 1922 — Los Anđeles, 31. decembar 2021) bila je američka glumica, pevačica, voditeljka i pisac. Posle sedamdeset godina karijere smatra se jednom od najcenjenijih komičarki na svetu, i jednom od najstarijih aktivnih glumica. Od 1945. godine do danas, glumila je u oko 120 filmskih i televizijskih ostvarenja. Nominovana je za dvadeset Emi nagrada, od kojih je osvojila sedam. Od 2009. godine i uloge bake Eni u filmu Veridba pored Sandre Bulok, njena popularnost u Americi je naglo porasla, a 2011. godine je proglašena za najpopularniju i najomiljeniju javnu ličnost u SAD.[1]

Privatan život

Beti Vajt je rođena 17. januara 1922. godine u Ouk Parku (Ilinois). Njen otac, Horejs Lorens, bio je elektroinženjer, dok je majka Tes Kertis bila domaćica. Beti po majci ima grčko i velško poreklo, a po ocu dansko i englesko. Za vreme Velike krize, porodica Vajt se seli u Los Anđeles, gde Beti upisuje osnovnu školu Horace Mann School i srednju Beverly Hills High School. Pošto je želela da bude pisac, Beti je za vreme školovanja pisala komade za školske priredbe, ali je igrajući u njima zavolela glumu i javni nastup.[2]

Karijera

Vajtova je karijeru počela 1939. godine, nekoliko meseci po završetku škole. To je bilo kada je u pilot-emisijama jedne televizijske kuće iz Los Anđelesa gostovala pevajući pesmu The Merry Widow. Nakon toga radila je kao model, i u pozorištu Bliss Hayden Little Theatre. Po izbijanju Drugog svetskog rata primorana je da stupi u službu Američkih volonterki, te se njena tek započeta karijera prekida do 1945. godine, kada počinje da radi kao voditelj. To su bili šou-programi Blondie, The Great Gildersleeve i This Is Your FBI, i njihova popularnost joj je obezbedila sopstvenu emisiju - Beti Vajt šou. Godine 1952. osnovala je producentsku kuću Bandy Productions, i igrala u njenom prvom projektu, komediji Život sa Elizabet. Ova TV-serija joj je donela Nagradu Emi za najbolju glavnu glumicu u komediji, te tako bitno uticala na dalji tok njene karijere.
