Volar (sazvežđe)

Volar (lat. Boōtēs) je sazvežđe severne hemisfere i jedno od 48 originalnih Ptolemejevih sazvežđa. Njegov naziv dolazi od predstave da Velika kola (asterizam u Velikom medvedu) vuku volovi kojima upravlja volar. Međutim, u klasičnoj predstavi, Volar je lovac koji goni mečku i njeno meče (Veliki i Mali medved) vodeći par lovačkih pasa (sazvežđe Lovački psi).

Vidljivo u rasponu +90° i −50°. U najboljem položaju za posmatranje u 21:00 čas u junu.

U Volaru se nalazi i deo nekadašnjeg sazvežđa Quadrant Muralis (zidni kvadrant), koje je 1922. godine ukinuto i podeljeno između Volara i Zmaja. Naziv meteorskog roja Kvadrantidi potiče od imena Quadrant Muralis, a radijant im se nalazi u Volaru.
